Located just 20 minutes southeast of Indianapolis, the Indiana Downs, or Indiana Grand Racecourse -as is currently known- is part of the Indiana Grand Racing Casino installations, that includes a thoroughbred racecourse, slot machines, a video poker room, restaurants, a casino, and other amenities.

It first opened its doors in 2009 as the Indiana Live! Casino, but quickly changed its name to the Indiana Grand Casino. It was purchased by the Centaur Gaming conglomerate of horse racing venues in 2014 for an approx. 250 million dollars. During this period, the Indiana Downs track was rebranded as the Indiana Grand Racecourse. It now features a yearly meet of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse Racing, between the months of April and October, as well as three different off-track betting locales throughout the state of Indiana.

Indiana Grand Racecourse is the proud host of the Grade III Indiana Derby event for 3-year-old horses of both sexes, ran across an 8 and a half furlong long dirt track and with an estimated purse of $500,000 USD. The current owner of Derby's top speed record belongs to Bob Baffert's Misremembered, ending up the race first with a 1:40.80 time back in 2009. Baffert also provided other winning horses to Indiana Derby, such as the Lookin At Lucky(2010), Power Broker(2013) and Cupid more recently during 2016.
