Monticello Raceway and Racino is operated by the Empire Resorts group, and it offers Harness and Standardbred Horse Racing all through the year. The Might M, as it is popularly known, is conveniently located in Sullivan County, New York, by the State Route 17b. It first opened on June, 1958, with the hopes of increasing the number of visitors to the resort. It has since become an important harness racing commodity in the region.

Just in the last decade, the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe made a move to build a Native-run casino within Monticello's installations, however, they faced severe opposition by the Atlantic City casino operators, who feared a direct threat to their business interests. Several New York businessmen, that included Donald Trump, lobbied to deny any such possibility; eventually, by 2008, the United States Department of the interior, in the person of its secretary, Dirk Kempthorne denied the tribe's request, explaining that the track's site was too far away from the actual tribe's territory.

Apart from its regular harness and standardbred racing track (1/2 mile oval), Monticello features a casino parlor with slots machines and other games. Just recently, Empire Resorts executive vice-president Charlie Degliomini made a statement in which they restated their unflinching support for Monticello's racino, announcing the continuation of the efforts to improve the site and provide racing enthusiasts with a better overall experience.
