Ellis Park Race Course is a thoroughbred racetrack built in Henderson, Kentucky, a location that, while it would technically put it within Indiana, the course of the Ohio river at the time it was built made it Kentucky-based. It was built in 1922 by the Green River Jockey Club. The Grand Circuit harness meet held there was a stop for the train route towards New Orleans for the winter racing activities at the Fair Grounds Race Course.

The meets didn’t hold their water financially and after three years, the Green River Jockey Club went bankrupt. James C. Ellis purchased the track in 1925 and brought about many changes, including a tote wagering system. The venue was then renamed Ellis Park Race Course. Years later, in 2005, the death of several racehorses and extensive damage to the track were the aftermaths of a tornado tearing through the area.

Of the many stakes races run at Ellis Park Race Course, the signature race is the Grade III Groupie Doll Stakes. Other stakes races run are Ellis Park Breeders' Cup Turf, Governor's Handicap, Tri-State Handicap, and Audubon Oaks, among others.

The track was designed after New York’s Saratoga Race Course; it is the only track in the country with a one-mile chute at a 90-degree angle by the first turn. The Saratoga Race Course used to have this type of chute, namely the Wilson Chute, for one-mile races.
