Quick Previews On 3 Of The Best Upcoming Boxing Title Bouts

Errol Spence Jr. vs Shawn Porter

Although Errol Spence Jr. wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao, the 8-division champ (and that bout is likely to happen in the future), he’ll have to fight Shawn Porter first.

IBF Champion “The Truth” will be clashing with WBC Champion “Showtime” in a Welterweight unification title fight that’s set as the headlining event on September 28 at Staples Center in LA.

This is indeed a great bout as both of these fighters are currently in their primes, and this is definitely a big step forward when it comes to finding the very best 147-pound boxer in the world.

“The Truth” has actually claimed that whoever wants to get that title will have to fight him first. And Porter is ready, as he has taken down some of the top names in the division, including Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman.

And, this promises to be a very entertaining fight as both possess a very different style, and on this, Spence mentioned that "Shawn is never in a boring fight and I always entertain. It will be a 'Fight of the Year' type fight because our styles mesh."

Co-Feature Bout: Anthony Dirrell vs David Benavidez

Two-Time world champ Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell will be defending his WBC Super Middleweight title versus David “El Bandera” Benavidez, a 168-pound undefeated former champ.

It’s clear that Dirrell wants to keep his title, which belonged to Benavidez until the latter fighter lost it after failing a drug test.

Then, Dirrell acquired the vacant title after defeating Avni Yildrim on February 2019 by a technical decision victory.

“The Dog” knows this will be a tough bout, and on this, he mentioned that "I'm more than ready for anything that he can bring. I bring an exciting fight. He knows that. The world knows that. He can talk, but nothing matters but what happens in the ring."

This fight will be taking place at Staples Center on September 28 and will serve as the co-feature for Spence vs Porter.

Golovkin vs Derevyanchenko… Finally!

Gennady “GGG” Golovkin will be facing Sergiy Derevyanchenko on October 5 for the vacant IBF middleweight title, an event that will be taking place at Madison Square Garden.

Golovkin will be trying to re-gain one of his old titles back after being handed the first loss of his career by Canelo Alvarez last year, losing the WBA (Super), WBC, and IBO middleweight titles in the process.

Alvarez was the holder of the now vacant IBF middleweight title, but he lost it after negotiations for a mandatory fight versus Derevyanchenko fell through.

And it seems like nobody really wanted to fight Derevyanchenko, as Golovkin was also stripped of the same title after refusing to fight the former boxer.

But GGG now has a new chance to get this championship title, and all he has to do is to beat the current mandatory challenger.
