"It's our archrivals, and we want to win just like everybody else," Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said. "Just because we're not going to the playoffs doesn't mean we're going to go out there and pack it in. We want to win. We want to play hard. We've got guys playing for jobs, and we got a strong desire to compete and a real will to win here."

The Oakland Raiders (4-11) had their playoff hopes dashed early on, but have won two of the last three games with upsets against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Broncos. The offense has been stagnant, averaging 19.1 points per game, with quarterback Derek Carr passing for 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions and with a run game that is led by Doug Martin, who comes into Week 17 with just 623 yards and four touchdowns. Oakland’s leading receiver, Jared Cook, is questionable heading into the matchup, and offensive tackle Donald Penn has landed on injured reserve. The Raiders defense has been porous, allowing 28.8 points per game to opponents, and one of their only bright spots, cornerback Gareon Conley, is listed as out.

The Kansas City Chiefs (11-4) could still get the division and the top seed without a win, as long as the Los Angeles Chargers lose to the Denver Broncos, but Andy Reid and the Chiefs won’t want to leave their fate in the hands of their AFC West rivals. The Chiefs have had their chances to lock up the division, but with losses to the Chargers and then the Seattle Seahawks last week, it now comes down to Week 17. The Chiefs will be heavily favored in this matchup behind the strong arm and mobile legs of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has thrown for 4,816 yards and 48 touchdowns to 11 interceptions while leading the offense to an average of 35.3 points per game. Mahomes will likely be without some offensive weapons, as running back Spencer Ware and wide receiver Sammy Watkins are both listed on the injury report.  Kansas City leads the all-time series 64-53-2 and have won nine of their last 11 matchups. The Chiefs have won the previous two games against the Raiders, including a 40-33 shootout earlier this season. The Raiders come into this game as two-touchdown underdogs, but in the AFC West, it’s hard to count any team out, especially when the Raiders have a chance at messing up their rivals’ path to the playoffs
