Los Angeles Rams Betting Odds

Ramble On

The LA Rams were the NFL's great success story of 2017, and anyone who did Los Angeles Rams betting last year came out pretty well for bettors. Coming off a 4-12 season in 2016, the Rams jumped out to a 3-1 start last year and never looked back, finishing with their first winning season (11-5) since 2003 and clinching a playoff berth.

Most of it was thanks to a potent offense, which went from being last in the NFL in 2016 to the best in the league in 2017, averaging 29.9 points per game and finishing the season with 478 total points scored, making them first in the league in both categories.

There was also a lot of individual success as well, as the Rams produced 8 Pro-Bowl players and 7 AP All-Pros last year.

The question for 2018 is if the Rams can continue the success or if they were simply just a flash in the pan. The Rams betting odds for 2018 still have them as the favorites to win their division and are among the top five contenders for a Super Bowl ring, according to our NFL Sportsbook.

Familiar Faces

For 2018, the Rams will be bringing many of the same players on board as they had last year. In particular, Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, and Aaron Donald are all expected to return.

Last year Donald, who is a defensive end, won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award after compiling 11 sacks in 14 games. He is young, versatile, and key to the future of the franchise. Donald is currently holding out for a new contract, so a lot will depend on if the Rams are able to give him an offer he deems acceptable.

At running back, Gurley lead the NFL with 13 rushing touchdowns, 19 total touchdowns, and 2,093 yards-from-scrimmage and all-purpose yards. He became only the third player in NFL history to tally 2,000 scrimmage yards, 10 rushing TDs and six receiving TDs His performance was enough to earn him the award for NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

With so much talent and promise, it is hard to imagine the Rams not being among the best in the league again in 2018, and possibly going on to more playoff success. However, it wasn't too long ago that the Rams were afterthoughts in this NFL, and one season of success does not guarantee they won't return to the bottom.

Flash in the Pan or no?

However, it is very hard to make an argument that the Rams won't have success in the future. Even if 2018 results in a performance drop off from 2017, the team is still centered on some spectacular talents and an award-winning coach in Sean McVay. They are also young, with an average age of just over 25.

To help remove any doubts, the Rams have also bolstered their roster in the offseason, with the signings of Pro Bowl cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib in an attempt to improve their secondary. They also signed former All-Pro Defensive end Ndamukong Suh to play alongside Donald, giving them what could be the best defense end paring in the NFL.

All of this gives a lot of hope to Rams fans that their team is not only going to continue to have success in years to come but if they play their cards right, they could become the next NFL dynasty.

What happens in 2018 will go a long way in telling how the story pans out.
